I picked a bad day...

I've been laughing in my head, picturing Lloyd Bridges from Airplane who, throughout the movie, says "I picked a bad day to give up smoking", ""I picked a bad day to give up coffee", ""I picked a bad day to give up sniffing glue"

Well, I picked a bad day to give up complaining.

As I was leaving church recently, I saw a basket full of purple plastic bracelets. (Yeah! Free bracelets!!)

I read the attached note which was a directive to take a bracelet, wear it for 21 days as a reminder of your new challenge, a commitment to stop complaining.

Ugh! Why did I stop and read that. Now I felt compelled to take the challenge. And I'm not sure if you know this about me, but I can be a bit of a complainer when things aren't going my way.

I decided that, although it would be difficult, I would do it.

I slipped it over my hand and onto my wrist.

(Ha ha ha ha....Did I hear a sinister laugh from above??)

Little did I know that in the days to come we would experience...

...our younger son opening the door and accidentally letting our wild 100 lb. puppy into our house where she ran around on the freshly varnished floors.

...our new granite counters installed incorrectly and a few phone calls to the company where I had to unleash my inner demons.

...a child who thinks he can do whatever he wants and defies his mother when he is disciplined. One who stands with his chin out and says things like, "go ahead and make the punishment worse, I don't care."

...a client who makes me work tons of hours then refused to pay for most of that time.

I took the bracelet off long ago, my friends. Long ago....

It would take more than a bracelet to make me stop complaining!

Isn't it weird how these things pop up.I mean here you are and you find this no complain bracelet, and than BAM! things come up. Yeah I would have done the samething.
