I'll admit that sometimes I'm jealous of Bob. He is the boys favored parent. He is silly, and, most of the time more childish than the boys themselves.
I am the voice of reason. I am the unfun one who gently (and at times not so gently) reminds him that he has a responsibility as their parent NOT to say the crude or inappropriate comment just to make them laugh.
I have a recurring thought of how it would be nice to be the fun parent at times and let Bob take on the role of the rule enforcer.
Yesterday, I was chauffeuring Brian around. He was telling me about some parent of a friend. He described her as 'snippy' to her child at times. I said, "Well, I'm sure they would call me snippy at times too." He responded, "No. You're the fun mom."
The Fun Mom? Woo Hoooo!!
So by comparison to the funniest dad on earth, I don't stand a chance. But by comparison to the moms in the 'hood, I've been granted a title that no royalty could top.
The Fun Mom.
I'm still smiling.

Good work, Jackie!
Glad to see you're at it, again.
I can't even begin to be the fun one compared to Steven.
He laughs and plays in the floor. He gives horsey rides on his back. He laughs and they get his dry sense of humor. He asks all the right questions and is NEVER tired.
I try to constantly tell my kids that I am cool in hopes that they are still young enough to believe that I know what I am talking about.
I don't think they are buying it.
