The Chow Hound

Scout is very skinny. Her ribs show and her "waist" is hollow. She is very long legged and will probably be a tall, thin dog.

She has a very disturbing eating habit. She absolutely attacks food with a fervor like I've never seen before (not even when I watch TMS eat his beloved meatloaf.)

She digs and chews at Zoe's bowl under which her food is stored. I bought a screw-on-lid container to hold Scout's food and caught her chewing on it and actually loosening the lid. Today, I had a brand new bag of her puppy food out in our garage. Like I racoon, she dug through the thick outer paper and inner plastic liner to get to her food. By the time I noticed, she had her head buried in the bag and was chowin' down.

My question is, do you think she's just hungry? Could this be a habit established early-on due to the breeder feeding all her dogs at once, or do you think that there is something physically or psycologically wrong with her?

I tried feeding her almost twice as much as we have been. She didn't attack Zoe's bowl like she had been doing. Perhaps her little tummy was so fat that she couldn't hoist herself up there. Well see...
