My Emotions...a seven-year-old's essay

Oh, the things you find in the rubble. I'm cleaning my office which is not yet unpacked but has been a working office for a month now. Ugh. It looks like the aftermath of a paper tornado in here.

Anyway, I came across this note from our 7-year-old. As I mentioned in my last post, he has some funny quirks. One is that he doodles CONSTANTLY. All of his schoolwork is covered with this artwork. His current teacher gets a kick out of it. Let's hope next year's teacher doesn't mind. I, of course, think he is a creative genius that must express himself in his artwork.


In case you're not experienced in the fine art of first-grader handwriting interpretation, let me provide a transcript of what is written on the paper.

My Emotions

My parents are so nice to me. (what a sweet thing to say)
Just sometimes it's like they aren't very nice to me. (whaaa??)
But then I lighten up then I just relax and watch a movie. (ah, the big screen, our best baby sitter)
Then the same thing happens all over again. (yup, I know this all too well)

Followed by the token doodle. This is my favorite part of the note. I love the six arms -- especially the ones hooked behind his head. I want to think that the first setof arms is when he's mad, the middle set when he's "lightening up" and finally the arms behind his head are when he is fully relaxed.

On the other side, the note says "Do not take this unless you need it, thank you." Is this a note to me? A reminder to him?

I love finding things like this and trying to figure out what was going on just prior to his writing the note.
