We hate Wednesday.
Wednesday is the day for BAND and RELIGIOUS EDUCATION.
The pep talk starts on Tuesday. By constantly reminding him, I figure it won't come as a surprise and, therefore, won't be received so negatively.
(WRONG!)
There is nothing on earth that compares to this kid in a bad mood. From waking up, to eating breakfast, wearing the 'puffy coat', gathering his backpack, finding gloves, getting into the car and driving to early band, this boy has strong opinions. He flings verbal assault after verbal assault in my general direction since I am The Bad Decision Maker.
You would think it might end after being interrupted by six hours at school. Nope. Upon walking in the door, he starts again.
"R.E. is so stupid! Why do I have to go? I don't even learn anything! All we do is sit there! So and so doesn't have to take R.E.!..."
...and on and on it goes until I sign -- with a flourish -- my name to the attendance sheet and walk back up the aisle into the awaiting peace and quiet.

I go back and forth on the religion thing, but either way, he is treating you disrespectfully and needs to be straightened out. Our oldest boy is really crabby in the morning, and difficult to deal with, but usually comes around after school with a better attitude. The second son gets disrespectful and needs a stern talk to get his ass back in line.
We've tried for 11 years. Sadly, this is how he is when he doesn't want to do something. He has a bad temper and is very, very opinionated. On the flip side, when he's not mad, he's great - sweet, respectful, etc. Just gotta go with the flow....
Hopefully his determination will serve him well one day.
My kids are perfect....
But, you probably knew that....
Kevin, I can block your responses, you know.
