The letter below was sent to me from a nursery from which I had ordered grass seed this year. I must not have unchecked their "receive our newsletter" box and about once a week I get a notice advertising some other plant product that is currently on sale.
Last week, I got the letter below -- very inappropriate and very unprofessional. I was so angry reading it that my heart was pounding out of my chest.
This is not your typical newsletter from Outsidepride.com, Inc. In fact, this is the first one in six years which is not business related. I apologize for cluttering your inbox with an unsolicited email; however you are free to unsubscribe just by clicking the link at the bottom.
I want to share with you my television viewing experience the other night on prime time television. I ask those of you who agree with me to go to www.cbs.com and go to the bottom of the page, click the feedback link and express your opinion. I know the vast majority of you will agree with me as all polls indicate. We are the majority, not the minority as the liberal media would lead you to believe.
My wife and I sat down to watch television the other night with our children. Cold Case was on which is normally a fairly enjoyable show to watch; however, the last half hour of the show dealt with a young man who wished he had asked his male friend to come with him (long story short). The show ended with the two men hugging and obvious intimation they had discovered their gay feelings towards each other. The very next show was Without A Trace. The whole last half hour of this show was about two lesbians who were struggling with their feelings of lesbianism. It ended with full acceptance from one father and the two lesbians making out. Yes, they were kissing right at the end of the show on public prime time television. So much for wholesome family television.
Now, I am NOT trying to bash homosexuals and I am not a bigot; however, I feel homosexuality is morally wrong and should not be "promoted" as what is the norm for society. Text books are being rewritten as I am writing this to "highlight" every homosexual who has made a contribution to society. There are teachers who have been asked to make sure students know that, "This person in history was a homosexual." History is being rewritten to promote homosexuality and prime time television is doing its best to make homosexuality a "normal" behavior. If homosexuality was the norm, civilization would have ceased to exist thousands of years ago. Procreation takes a man and a woman. There was Adam and then there was Eve, not Adam and Steve.
There are literally tens of thousand of you reading this email right now. If you are tired of the way public television is going let CBS know! It will only take about 1 minute of your time. Again, just go to www.cbs.com and click the feedback link at the bottom. It is time the majority speak up and not let the minority run this country. The majority can bring back the Christian heritage this country was founded on because it is, "In God We Trust."
Thank you for your time,

Why is it that we as a society must separate Christians from Liberals? I feel I am both. Jesus himself taught us acceptance of others -- even accepted and loved a prostitute -- and I'm sure Mr. Troy Hake would also consider her "morally wrong" like he does homosexuals. Hmmm...he must know something about judgement and Christianity that Jesus didn't know. Somehow, he can send these strong statements out to his customers and yet spin his double-speak with the statement "I am NOT trying to bash homosexuals and I am not a bigot".
I see he conveniently left off his phone number so I had to look it up on my own. I thought I'd include the address as well. If you're offended half as much as I am by his note, please call, e-mail, fax...whatever...and let him know.

How is that for unbridled, arrogant ignorance? This imbecile uses his forum as a seed salesman to promote his narrow minded view.
Plus, if I hear the "Adam and Steve" thing again, I think I will scream. It is so jive.
I truly do believe the only answer is to raise our children and treat our fellow man as we want to be treated. These narrow minded people would have you believe they would want you to shun them if they were gay, but I do not believe that.
Our answer I believe is acceptance and prayer!
There's something awfully ironic about the name of his company being 'Outside Pride'.
TSK,
I agree, this type of correspondence is both inappropriate and unprofessional.
He is abusing his customer/client relationship with you and everyone else that uses his company's products...to push his moral views into your face, unsolicited.
There are times when companies can cross similiar boundries and do a service for the community; an example of this being corporate support for Katrina Relief. Crossing over that boundry in the Katrina example is both appropriate and professional.
Using your company to pass moral judgment over others just because they may be different than us (big asumption on Outside Pride's part) is at the very least devisive and does not help the community they are a part of.
We anxiously await your next blog!
TSK - 1st allow me to congratulate on your release from probation!
2nd - I am outraged by that newsletter you received. Hopefully there were many others who felt the same way and will boycott. Having been to Oregan a few times it's one of those places with real extremes - lots of super liberally minded people and lots of ultra-conservative militia type people. Have you checked out the CBS site to see what views are being expressed? I also think it's interesting that he calls CBS "public television" - which it's not. I think I remember reading statistics some while back that the gay and lesbian population in America was a better educated higher purchasing power population overall - so the advertisers would rather have them watching TV so they can sell all their consumer products to people who can afford them.
I hate Illinois Nazis
