Best Songs

At a recent dinner with friends, the subject came up of what we thought was the quintessential 80's song. Three out of four of us had picked the exact same song. Weird. Not so weird was the fact that the odd man out was TMS. I have never fully understood his taste in music. Next, we threw out our picks for best sentimental songs, best group, and on and on it went. I'm curious what picks you guys might have.

My picks for quintessential songs of the 80s:

Blinded Me With Science - Thomas Dolby
Shoot That Poison Arrow - ABC
Turn Me Loose - Loverboy?
Take On Me - Ah-Ha
Relax - Frankie Goes To Hollywood
The Reflex - Duran Duran

I could go on and on...but, my fingers are tired.

What about Simple Minds - Don't You Forget About Me?

Not bad...
How about "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)" by Eurythmics? I heard that on Basel1 Radio today.

Now I'm not saying these are the best of the 80's, but here's what comes to my mind when I think of 80's music. Culture Club. The Go-Gos. Adam Ant. Madonna is the epitome of the 80's, even though she's still around.
What was the song that 3 out of 4 of you picked?
Come to think of it, I'm not a huge 80's music fan.

Anything by Howard Jones.

I have to add...

Billy Idol, White Wedding
Police, Every Breath you Take
Dire Straights, Money for Nothing
Cameo, Word Up
Michael Jackson, Billy Jean
Fabulous Thunderbirds, Tough Enough

...and I have to agree with TMS on Hojo, in particular, the one that started it off for him...New Song.
Remember Friday night videos before we all had MTV?

Howard Jones "Bend Your Brain". I actually stole that from TMS but it works.

TBF & Mrs. TBF, do you realize that occasionally my sister is logging in and commenting as me?

Expose yourself sister of Sour Kraut or dare not comment!!!
The title of the song is actually New Song. I have the Hojo greatest hits CD and it's track 2.
