When our 7-year-old son was a baby and in that stage where he'd begun to talk but not really willingly, I must have taught him to say "Happy Easter, Daddy." As his speech got a little more fluent, he said it more freely.
He used it in place of "I love you, Daddy."
So, say, in May, he'd run up to The Swede with his arms open wide and say, lovingly, "Happy...Easter...Daddy."
In say July, before being tucked into bed, he'd whisper, "Happy...Easter...Daddy."
In, oh say, September, when The Swede would pour him milk, he'd reply, "Happy...Easter...Daddy."
It never failed to bring a huge smile and an isn't-he-cute glance across the room to The Swede and me.
