My Non-twin Twin

My sister and I are about as close to twins as non-twin sisters can be. There's a pretty strong physical resemblance but it's the other things that are truly uncanny. Our mannerisms, our voices (even we can't tell our voices apart on our answering machines), our taste in music, food, furniture, clothes...

This similarity was evident once again yesterday. I had found a dress I wanted for my nephew's upcoming wedding. The store only had a size 12. Since My New Lifestyle of 2007, I have lost 14 pounds which puts me into the size 10 category. (I swear I was born in the double digits as I can never recall being anything less than a size 10.)

While talking on the phone, I mentioned that I was looking for this dress at a store near her house and would she mind stopping in and looking to see if they had it. I got as far as "it's brown..." before my ever-so-reliable T-mobile razor phone dropped the call. Ugh! I couldn't get a cell for a LONG time.

When I was finally able to reach her, the first thing I asked was, "Have you already gone to the dress store?"

"Yes, I hope I put the right one on hold" she replied.

I got to the store and, low and behold, she had selected the exact dress by the mere description of "brown".

During my call to thank her, I mentioned a dress I had seen which reminded me of her.

You guessed it. That is the dress she wanted to buy.

She and her wonderful husband have helped out The Swede and I considerably during our move. She helped wallpaper our boys room and they gave us a television for our new house. In return, I wanted to do something nice for her so I bought her the dress. When I stopped by her house to surprise her with it, she answered the door and we discovered we were dressed alike.

We think we freaked out the saleslady (who claimed to be psychic) by our weirdly similar ways.

It's so great you have such a great relationship with your sis. With all the sibling rivalry going on in the world these days, it's refreshing to hear bout the LUV. and WOW you two DO look alike~!

You do look alike.

People have said the same thing about my sister and I... same mannerisms, we speak the same way, etc. etc.

It is very nice to have someone that you are that close to.

With ten years seperating my sister and I, we are now at a point were, at 20 and 30, we are in different stages in our life. Although we are still close, I look forward to the time when the gap will close a bit more.....and we will have more in common once again.

That is really bizarre! You do look like twins.

Last year when The Boyfriend and I were in NYC we met up with my cousin who I had never met - it was strange the mannerisms we shared and even stranger was that we both have the same laugh!

I have a friend here that looks like my brother - we both have the same name and everyone mixes us up, but not in a good way. We went out last weekend and this guy walked up to me and started talking like he knew me...oh wait, this has got to be a post on it's own!

Michael-
Of all the photos I found, the one I posted makes us look the least alike. The others were really poor quality but I just may swap this one out for a new one to show you how much we really do look alike.
