An eerie feeling...

Last night I awoke at 3 am. Being way up north, I opened my window shade in hopes of seeing the Northern Lights. I believe I saw them but not as spectacularly as I had hoped. They were merely a lighter glow in the sky. Then it dawned on me, maybe in the part of the sky that I can't see, the northern lights are really putting on a show. I got out of bed and went outside. The sky was about the same all the way around. However, it was so dark on the horizon that I couldn't make out anything in front of me. This, combined with the complete silence of the night except for the rolling waves of the lake just in front of us, completely gave me the creeps. I quickly ran back inside.

Lakes or oceans at night have always given me a very eerie feeling. What is it that gives you the creeps?

I have thought long and hard about your question of the week (vacation version), and I'm hardpressed to think of a good answer. The only thing I can think of is: The thought of wearing newly purchased clothes without washing them first makes me CRINGE!
It doesn't give me "the creeps", but it is cringe-worthy. NOTE: I have been told by people who work in the clothing industry that one should always wash clothes before wearing them for the first time due to all the nasty mfg. chemcals that are imbedded in the fabric.

I also can't thing of any one thing...but there are people who over the years have given me the creeps. There was this guy I used to work with named Ted Williams..not the dead baseball player...and he was an old lech and just creeped me out. He was always kinda sweaty and had a sweat mustache. Ok that's the best I can do right now.

People with oddly shaped faces and old antique dolls. I also get creeped out by old drawings of people.

I agree witht the old doll thing. I'll add that old photos give me the creeps as well. The TMSs get the creeps from a lot of different things.

I recently discovered that thunderstorms in the mountains creep me out. I am generally not afraid of storms/lightning....and all of that. However, when you are 14,000 ft up, you feel like you are a moving target for the lightning and it has gladly accepted the challenge of striking you. This really creeped me out. I don't think I have ever said so many simultaneous "Our Fathers" and "Hail Marys", EVER!

TSK,

I can totally relate to your experience.

The first time that I saw the Northern Lights was sometime last year. I was taking my mom home and I saw the lights out of the corner of my eyes while driving.

When I got out of the car at her house and got a good look at the show, I must admit it was a bit unnerving. For me, I think because it was so big, massive and in motion, that I felt small and helpless when looking at it.
