I agree with TMS. I'd head up to da U.P., eh? Then, I'd cut across in the direction of Mackinac Island. Park "the beast" somewhere, and take the boat to the island for a day of eating fudge, etc. Then, drive on down toward Traverse City, hug the lake toward Grand Haven, and then head back home.
Of course more than two people read your blog! It's just that my recent trips have included such grand places as Branson, MO and Eureka Springs, AR. Both are wonderful places in their own right, but not sure if you all are backwoods as us... You should probably stick with TMS and TBF.
I'd love to take "Da Coach" all the way across the country, up through British Columbia, past the Yukon Territory, and into Alaska...but not this year.
Can't take it across the Pacific, so Hawaii is out.
I don't know what's in Cheyenne, but I thought if you went that maybe you could tell me. Actually, I think it's the home of Dick Cheney. On second thought, maybe you shouldn't go - TMS would probably have a coronary. I know you said in the U.S., but how about an around-Lake Superior drive. It's supposed to be great. You'd even drive through Thunder Bay, Ontario, eh? Take off to the Great White North (You're singing it like Geddy Lee, aren't you?)!
If you are into "The Cowboy Thing", Cheyenne, WY, is an awesome place to go at the end of July.... They have the famous, Cheyenne Frontier Days. You can look it up on the web.
Other than that.....there isn't much in Cheyenne.....

I say we should go to the UP in Michigan, but I am open to anywhere.

I once overheard an older woman, trying to use a hip espression, say in a very staccato voice "I've been there...I've done that."
How about Montana?
"I've been there...I've done that"
I should have been more precise and asked where should we go besides:
Michigan
Niagara Falls
Cape Cod
Maine
Wyoming
Montana
South Dakota
Okay, we've decided...Minnesota. We've had such a busy spring and summer that it'll be nice to have a quiet and relaxing getaway in the Northwoods.
I think it would've helped to get ideas if more than just two people read my blog. TBF, I guess I want to be linked if you deem The Sour Kraut worthy.

How about New Mexico?
