Poor Kid

Our older son came into our bedroom yesterday afternoon, threw himself face down on our bed and said, "I think bad thoughts...I think bad thoughts." I was determined to find out what he meant by this. He didn't want to tell me but he did say that the bad thoughts were about me. I couldn't imagine anyone ever having a bad thought about me so I began to get REALLY curious. By this time, he was crying about it. I was finally able to coax it out of him by telling him that my imagination will come up with far worse things about me than he did.

He told me that two nights ago he had a dream that he and his brother were in our basement. TMS wasn't home. He called up to me but I didn't answer. He went upstairs looking for me and found me lying in our bed, dead. He was really upset. I told him that I understood that those dreams can be really scary and that he can always come in by me to make sure I'm okay. He said he did. I said, "Really? I didn't hear you. Did you try to wake me up?" He said, "I checked your pulse." For some reason, that seemed really sad to me. I felt so sorry for him. Poor kid.

That kid has ice water in his veins! Imagine...he has a dream that his mom is dead, and instead of running into the room in hysterics, he calmly feels for your pulse without waking you up.

How old is he? My 3 year old told me I was going to get hit by a car and die. Where do they come up with this stuff? Everyone says TV, but I don't think that is the case with her. She is outside ALL the time and we hardly ever watch TV. If we do it is something really thought provoking...like.....My Name Is Earl......

I know, we are pathetic.

TBF, you don't understand him. It was the fear of what he'd find that kept him so quiet.

MT, he is 9. I'm not sure what provoked the dream but it was pitiful how skaken up he was by it.
