When Michael moved recently, he played a game via his blog where he showed three food items and his readers had to guess which had been expired the longest.
Last week, I cleaned out our pantry. I had no intention of playing the same game but as I cleaned I occasionally would find something in the way back that I hadn't seen for awhile. I picked up a can of dried apricots and thought to myself, "These are kind of old but they've never been opened and they are, after all, dried already..." I put them back on the shelf and continued my cleaning.
Last night, The Swede sat down next to me on the couch, peeled open the protective covering under the lid and began popping the dried apricots into his mouth. Reminded of the cherry incident, I said, "Be careful with those."
A minute later I reached over, grabbed an apricot for myself and before popping it into my mouth, I looked...
"Uh, Swede, why is this black?"
"I don't know." (He took his next bite before the words got out of my mouth.)
"They're old, I think."
The Swede checked the expiration date on bottom of can and promptly spit the food out of his mouth.
Any guesses???

Why was TMS suddenly interested in eating apricots? I don't think I've ever seen him eat a piece of fruit for as long as I've known him.
I had to re-do my guess.....
I would say....
April 21, 2003
HINT: It was from this millenium
TBF-TMS loves fruit. I'm surprised you have never seen him devour it. He also loves vegetables, meat, dairy...
I'm changing my guess to May 16, 2003!
Yes, I'm certain that I have never seen TMS eat a piece of raw fruit...and I've known him for nearly 30 years!
I'm going to say 07/2002
They expired in May 2005.
In retrospect, that doesn't seem so bad compared to some of your guesses.
I got the month right. Do I win something?
May 2005?!? I can beat that right now!
